like a star to fall
Some days ago we finished the recordings for another track called "Star
To Fall". This song is in fact based on a 20 years old demo-version.
Feels strange ...
But anyway: we loved that song when were younger and we still do.

New CD-Releases:
2009 - ECLIPSE (Rarities)
2010 - A NEW DAWN
Before we face "A NEW DAWN" in 2010 the
time has come to look back on two decades and to open up the doors to our archives. It took hours to listen to old tapes, Mini Discs and long-forgotten files.
Some rarities have found their way onto the new album "ECLIPSE"
which will be released on 31/12/2009.
We have chosen 16 songs
A special highlight is the first demo-song for the album "A NEW DAWN" called "All The Days".
We think that it would be a sacrilege to remaster the songs. Maybe you will hear some sizzling noise here and a wrong note there but that's the way we play our music: groovy and gloomy.
More infos in our shop.

So it's done ... 20 years ago Sebastian, Sascha, Daniel, Peter and I formed Morbid Poetry's first line-up.
I want to thank all I worked together with throughout those years, especially Michael, Chris, Melanie, Kirsten, Dennis, Thomas und Marcel.
I also want to say thanks to Giovanni B. und Thomas T. for their longtime support, help and
friendship.

Finally, "Vampiria volume 1" has been released on 24 June 2007, free to
the public. This is a South African gothrock-sampler with familiar
artists like Artica, Two Witches, Malaise, Killing Miranda and a number
of new and lesser known bands and artists.
Morbid Poetry is listed with “Train”, the song that has virtually become
the Morbid Poetry hallmark on several occasions.
Vampiria volume 1 was compiled by Marek Dabrowski AKA DJ Passanoir.
The purpose of this compilation is to promote new and old artists to
fans of underground music. You will find a good mix of Goth and Electro
on this CD, which certainly allows you to come across something you
like.

Michael is Morbid Poetry's new singer. Well, he's not really that new ... he has done that job in the early 90ties already. Sometimes they come back ...
To give you an impression of what we are working on you can listen to a
fragment of the song The Coming.

10/04/2003 :: when pilgrims come home ::
It's done: Paul and Marc from The Netherlands bought the last two copies of our CD "Pilgrims".
I never believed that we could reach enough people to sell all copies without a record-deal. But today this day has come, and I'm getting sentimental. I'm recalling all those years and I'm thinking about Sascha and Sebastian. We founded MORBID POETRY back in 1989 and together we released "Pilgrims" some years later. It was a magnificent time. Unfortunately they are only another part of the history of this band now.
I will open up a bottle of wine tonight and listen to this CD for the first time since ... well, can't remember. And I will drink to you, boys! We will meet again one day ...
From now on only a re-release of "Pilgrims" is available; it will be a CD-R with the original cover.

We placed back our plans to release a full-length album till the end of this year. Instead of this we concentrate on choosing material for a Maxi-CD from the existing demos.
For all of you interested in listening to Christian's voice please check out the new song "And The Candles Burn Again" at mp3.com, which is for the first time in a while not an uptempo-rock-number.
06/07/2002
Some of you knew it already, but to make it official: Sebastian has left Morbid Poetry as singer at the end of 2001. Besides me he was the last remaining founders of the band. I want to thank him for our long-term co-operation and wish him good luck for the future.
Christian Fischer, a very talented singer, joined Morbid Poetry in Spring 2002. Some of you might know him already as he was member of the German Dark-Rock-Band "Beautiful Darkness". If you want to learn more about him take a look at our homepage and read the interview given for the German magazine REFRAKTOR, which will be released soon.
We‘ve started recording new tracks and hope to complete a full-length album by the end of this year.
If anyone’s interested in buying our CD PILGRIMS: hurry up! There are only few copies left. We are thinking about producing a new edition.

Mr. Thomas Thyssen was asked to write an article about the german Gothic-scene by the american magazine Starvox. That's what he wrote about us in that context:
"Morbid Poetry seems to be one of the most traditional German goth-bands since their sounds reminds me a lot of old Sisters Of Mercy and Fields Of The Nephilim stuff, although they never forget to put their very own unique details into the mix. Their newest EP “And The Dance Goes On!” contains their by far best material up to now. “Babel Falls” and “Tomorrow” are regulars on the playlists, and they deserve more recognition, without the shadow of a doubt. Morbid Poetry even made it to the fourth place of a music-contest which was held by the huge Sonic Seducer independent magazine."
Click here to read the full article.
Thomas Thyssen is working as an editor for all of Germany´s three big independent music magazines, namely Zillo, Sonic Seducer and Orkus. Furthermore he and his brother Ralf are organising several party events at the Zwischenfall in Bochum, Germany´s oldest and most traditional goth-club. For further information take a look at Nightmarezone.

And finally, after a longer period of silence, now some news again:
First of all about obvious things: our website has a new design. I have checked functionality beforehand as far as possible, still I can’t exclude some revision in the days to come.
Our long-term background singer Kirsten Richter has left the band in july – unfortunately at a point when recordings for our new song PRAY FOR ALWAYS were imminent. It is not yet clear whether we will be working with female backing vocals in the future. Still we are checking out promising young ladies. Due to the very dominant female vocal part, PRAY FOR ALWAYS is actually put on hold.
In the meantime a song with the working title STAND YOUR GROUND has emerged; recordings for this song will probably start next week, so that an exclusive circle can be glad to listen to it on a trial base soon.
05/08/2001
We are still alive !
12/07/2001
"Pray For Always" - this was meant to be the title of our next song. Because of several reasons which some of you might know all activities are stoped at this moment. But don't be afraid: the dance will go on someday.
26/06/2001
Though the debut CD PILGRIMS has already been released in 1996, magazines are still interested in it. Latest example is the German magazine TOTEM reviewing this CD in their actual issue.

Well, there are some innovations concerning the design. The enlarged pictures are now shown in a seperate window with adjusted size. Of course it doesn´t work proper with the AOL-browser! Also we are working on a new song called "The Coming (Rebirth Of The Dreamer)". This songs deals with the Cthulhu-myth. The first version is ready. Several friends have listened to it already and we received very positive reactions. Don´t forget to vote for Morbid Poetry.
07/05/2000
After several "tribute-to-..."-samplers, ÉQUINOXE RECORDS is now planning to release a compilation entitled "A Tribute to THE SISTERS OF MERCY". Having already taken part in the production of the "Tribute to THE CURE"-sampler (see Merchandising), we will now contribute "POISON DOOR" from the SISTERS. The recording has been settled in the meantime. The song is finished - and so are we.

From now on you can also reach us by "www.morbidpoetry.de".
20/03/2000
The German version of our homepage is almost ready now. Some things still have to be added, especially the translation of the history and the profiles. We also want to add a section called "About Us", some sort of short version of the history. Have you seen the new pictures ?
15/03/2000
The "sometimes-I-can´t-see-the-right-background-problem" seems to be caused by Tripod, which is our provider. Let´s see if it´s getting better in the future. I´ve reworked the pictures by deleting the frames. It doesn´t look as good as before BUT I think it´s working with the Netscape Browser now. Please try out and tell me.
12/03/2000
A lot of you have recognized that the file-size of the pictures was too large. I knew this from the beginning, but I didn´t have the time to rework this - UP TO NOW. Please check out if it´s working better now. New pictures are added. By the way - do you like the new design? Unfortunately it seems that the new background doesn´t work with every browser. So if you see only a grey background with some strokes: SORRY! You should see a marble background. Also it seems that the Netscape Browser has problems with the Pictures-Page. I´ll try to find out.
03/03/2000
It´s done - this seems to be the official version of our homepage. It took some sleepless nights and a lot of cigarettes, but after all I think the result was worth it. Please keep in mind that this homepage is still under construction, which means that the "Profiles" and more pictures still have to be added. I hope you´ll enjoy this little side and I´ll be glad about any (critical) e-mail I receive. The Dance Goes On ...
